Film & Print Scanning
Luna Imaging has the personnel, equipment, space and infrastructure to accommodate projects of any size. Luna employs a staff of experienced
imaging professionals– with no subcontracting to third parties- who move images through each focused stage of Luna's production process efficiently yet meticulously resulting in fast turn-around times at competitive rates.
Prices are fixed at a project’s inception making your budget predictable. Once digitized, Luna offers a full suite of task-based optional solutions
for digitized content: derivative image creation, retouching, sharpening, image watermarking, media duplication, file conversion, data
services, and more.
Digital Photography
Digital photography represents a shift from traditional film based photography in several important ways. To accurately reproduce the true
essence of an object (shape, texture, color, luminance) in digital form requires a skilled photographer who can orchestrate the right
combination of digital camera, specialized lighting, and digital techniques to achieve the desired results.
We employ a number of skilled digital photographers who are familiar with the handling of archive and museum objects, and have contended with
source material ranging from deteriorating, acid-based paper, to daguerreotypes, to original works of art in diverse media.
On Location
Luna recognizes the inherent risk of moving fragile and valuable collections
and provides services to support site and project-specific digital studios.
We encounter situations where it is unrealistic to send materials to
our offices. The most obvious examples are large 2 and 3-dimensional
museum objects.
In these instances we have gone on-site to set up digital studios,
such as at the Museum of Modern Art, NY; the Museum of Fine Arts Boston;
and the Beinecke Rare Book Library at Yale University. In other cases,
we have set up digital studios for the staff of client institutions.
